Edward McKnight Kauffer was a revolutionary graphic designer, creating countless posters and book covers while collaborating with T.S. Eliot, Alfred Hitchcock, Aldous Huxley, and Man Ray in the early 1900s and into the mid-century.

As an early modernist designer in the 1910s, Kauffer illustrated posters for London Underground and the Daily Herald. In the 1920s, he designed a poster for Alfred Hitchcock's "The Lodger" while continuing his work with London Underground. His career continued with incredible success adding American Airlines, the US Government and Random House as clients. He passed away in 1954.

This poster is linen-backed, which preserves the integrity of the poster. To learn more about linen backing, see our visit to Portland's Affiche Studio.

With linen-backed posters, the backside or borders of the linen may contain scuffs, which does not compromise the integrity of the poster itself.

As this is one of our more expensive pieces, it ships within the USA for free. Please reach out via our contact page with any questions.

Although over 70 years old, the poster is in wonderful shape with an overall rating of B. Please note that tape repairs are present in the upper corner.
